It doesn’t matter who or where you are right now in this world.
The fact is – you have all heard of Cancer and most likely… either yourself or somone you know has had some form or type of experience that this nasty critter has implicated on ones such life. Keep in mind, I use the term “nasty critter” for my own personal use as obviously it is indeed much more serious than that – isn’t it?
In August, 2008, I received a phone call from my father who was residing overseas but was frequently visiting the country where I live moreso in the earlier months of that year. I didn’t pay much attention to it as business matters were on a high and as one of the shareholders of the company his presence was required.
“Hi Dad” I said.
“I’ve just come from my Oncologists” he said. (no hello, how’s it going… etc)
“I’ve got cancer! I’ve got until Christmas” he said in broken tone and quickly hung up the phone. (no goodbye, no talk to you later…etc)
I’ve only seen my dad cry a couple of times in my entire life.
He’s not the crying type.
He doesn’t show emotion.
He’s strong, assertive, stiff as a board, does not bend even an inch.
Ex-military, businessman with strong traditional beliefs similar to the traits of the “Poor Dad” scenario in Robert Kiyosaki’s bestseller “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”.
Prior to 2006, our relationship was a mere “hello” & “goodbye”, I resented my upbringing due to his formalities and carried that around with me for far too flippin long – silly me. I am a parent myself now, to not one but four children, so yeah – I get it now, dad!
So, first things first.
- My father moves in (my husband and I donate our ensuite bedroom)
- We squeeze in with the kids (it’s not that bad & the teens have stopped nagging, phew!)
- And the race is on to find a “cure”, any cure, whatever is going, in this vicinity or overseas, I’m ready to look at anything, anywhere, whether it costs or not!
I come back to Dad with a squillion of options.
He’s going to follow his Specialists advice and walk down the “conventional” method. No problem, I was seeking both conventional and alternative so this is fine.
- Surgery takes place.
- Chemotherapy is activated.
- So is Radiation.
AS WELL AS:
- Raw Juicing
- Nutrition
- Increase exercise
AND:
- More research
- Hours and hours on internet
- Tons and tons of reading books
- Talk, talk and talk to as many people possible that I could find that may have an ounce of knowledge that may assist
Dad’s body changed, so did his face and thus his spirit. He didn’t look like “my” dad.
I have farewelled a handful of people who had lost their battle to cancer just this year alone, it’s not fair, it’s not good enough, it’s terribly sad but there is nothing that can be done for them now.
If you have read this far, you were meant to… so take heed the advice given and act on it – now.
- Re-educate yourselves.
- Gather as much material as you possibly can.
- Ask questions and keep asking, no one is going to tell you the answer to your specific question if they don’t know what it is!
- Look at “everything”.
- DON”T GIVE UP!
- And most importantly, for as long as you are able to make any decisions from day to day on your own, and breathe in & exhale out, then right now, you have what it takes to follow onto your next step. And “you” will do it because… “you” want to &… at the end of the day, this is all about “YOU”!
- So… who’s in charge of you these days?
It’s been over 14months since that phone call.
“Dad” is still in my ensuite bedroom.
He is still recieving Chemo.
No more radiation.
He is laughing, driving, going about his daily tasks.
Business matters have slowed right down and are coming to a close on his part anyway.
He is still laughs.
He meditates, takes several trips to alternative therapy treatments throughout the week. (My father has never been into the “hippy” stuff he so calls it, in fact, he’s well known for being as “spiritual as a dead fish”! – things have changed.)
It is in the now, that you breathe.
It is in the now, that you live.
So, breathe and live free.
Right Now.
